Maxime OLD (1910 - 1991)
An exceptional one-of-a-kind Bronze Chandelier with 8 candle base sockets, and 8 arms diffusing lights through the original lampshades. Two tones of brass and patinated bronze lightly oxidized, makes this chandelier a perfect combination of colors with the same material.
When the chandelier is turned ON at night different colors of the bronze appear to make visible the different patinas.
France Circa, 1946
Literature: Maxime Old, Norma Editions, 2000, P.109 showing the matching sconces we recently sold. The chandelier is not illustrated in the book but We thank Olivier Old, the son of Maxime Old, to have kindly confirmed its authenticity.
After archival research, Olivier Old confirmed that, so far, only one chandelier is located among the artist’s production, and it’s ours. This chandelier, likely came by way of a special order from a client to Maxime Old.
