Jean PUIFORCAT, ( 1887 - 1945 )

Very interesting lacquer panel by Jean Puiforcat presumably depicting the famous French aviator Dieudonné Costes (1892 – 1973), who set flight distance records in the 1920's.

On May 2, 1928 he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross by special act of the Congress of the United States in recognition of his historic around the world flight.

Signed Jean PUIFORCAT, dated 1930 and stamped F. Barbedienne fondeur Paris.
